Only three hours drive from Sydney, but a world away, you will find the Great Lakes - NSW's water playground with 145 kilometres of stunning coastline, deep green forests and numerous hidden coastal and hinterland jewels to be explored.

The Great Lakes Shire extends from Tea Gardens/Hawks Nest in the southern part of the shire to Forster-Tuncurry in the north, encompassing Bulahdelah and Stroud in the hinterland.

Here you and the family can sit back and relax on a sandy beach, kayak, swim, fish and take in the serenity...or you can take in the roar of the engines as the Rally Cars hit town!

The Great Lakes Rally is just one of the 6 rounds in the dynamic Australian Rally Car Championships and also a round of the NSW State Rally Championship.

The 6 rounds take place in forested countryside throughout Australia, with each event running over two competitive days, with points scored by the top ten placed teams on each day. The final victor is decided by the most successful combination over the two day competition.

The action is thrilling! Cars slide sideways through high-speed corners and dodge and dive over challenging crested roads as the team-work between driver and co-driver is tested to the limit.

For Motor Sports fans, Rallying is one of the most accessible and friendly motorsports in the world, providing the opportunity for fans to easily mingle with teams, grab autographs and have a talk to their heroes, before the teams race off into the forest.

Whilst the location of each round offers a different region to explore, those visiting the Great Lakes area on Rally weekend have plenty of options for fun, sun and relaxation in the area. Nearby there is a combination of 5 national parks, 10 state forests, mountain ranges, rolling hills and valleys, a triple lake system, numerous rivers and 27 beaches.

So, whether Dad wants to experience the action of the event whilst the family enjoy the scenery and attractions of the Great Lakes, or the whole family chose to enjoy the Rally Championships, there is plenty of thrills and excitement on offer for all ages.
