Get your motor running at the Velocette Motorcycle RallyThe Velocette is an English motorcycle produced by Veloce Ltd from 1905. The world knew Velocettes for their classic traditional single-cylinder roadsters and racers. In 1961, a basically standard Velocette Venom roadster became the first and only 500cc motorcycle to average over 100 mph for 24 hours. Veloce still holds this world speed record. Therefore, it's no wonder that veloce means fast in Italian.
The Velocette Owners Club has over 2,300 members worldwide with branches in the UK, Australia, Netherlands, Japan, France, Canada and North America.
The Velocette Motorcycle Rally is held annually in Australia & is hosted in a different State each year. Last year's rally was held from 22 Sept to 1 Oct 2007 and took in some of the some of the best attractions on offer in the Adelaide Hills, including Seppeltsfield Winery and the Barossa Valley.
The 2008 Velocette Motorcycle Rally will be held in Victoria, along the Great Ocean Road.
If you are interested in motorbikes or motor vehicles in general, then a must-see in the Adelaide Hills is the National Motor Museum, presenting the history of Australian motoring in over 6,500 square metres of contemporary exhibition space. As custodian of Australia's largest and most significant collection of motorise vehicles and bikes, the Museum is recognised as the centre of Australia's motoring history.
