The Gramapians

Grampians National Park is in western Victoria, 260kms from Melbourne and one of the state's most popular holiday destinations.

The Grampian Ranges attract more than 1 million visitors each year and are known as the "Garden of Victoria". The region is well known for its colourful wildflowers and is one of Australia's richest flora areas with over 1,000 species.

In early 2006, the park suffered greatly from bushfires with almost half of the Grampians National Park affected. But the ancient Grampians landscape changes every season and the environment adapts to extreme conditions such as bushfires and regenerates with new and abundant wildlife and wildflowers.

This means that there are rare and stunning wildflowers to be seen now in The Grampians. Spring is a great time to visit and every October the Grampians Wildflower Show at Halls Gap takes place showcasing the wildflowers of the area. The Halls Gap Wildflower and Art Show is a renowned showcase of indigenous flowers of the Grampians. Displays demonstrate and explain the native flora found in the region.

Just minutes from the Grampians National Park is Wartook Gardens. Over 30 years, owners, Royce & Jeanne, have developed a multi-award winning, and internationally recognised garden. There's 10 acres of native Australian and exotic plants as well as more than 115 bird species. Set on 70 acres, Wartook Gardens also encompasses a Bed & Breakfast for up to 6 guests. It's located in the beautiful Wartook Valley famed for its mobs of kangaroos.
