Noumea Cruise, NEW CALENDONIA

Australia's latest cruise liner, Pacific Sun, succeeded the popular Pacific Sky as Sydney's year-round cruise ship in November 2004. At 47,000 tons, and twelve stories high, Pacific Sun is the biggest ocean liner ever based in Australia. She can accommodate 1800 people.

Her arrival more than doubles the size of the local cruise market, highlighting the cruise boom that has gripped Australia. In fact, cruising is the fastest growing sector of the travel industry. Her first year of cruising offers 34 sailings, with itineraries varying from a six-night Melbourne Cup cruise to a 13-night voyage to New Caledonia, Fiji and Vanuatu.

The Pacific Sun has a huge amount of entertainment and activities on board. There are two pools including a 35-metre water slide, guaranteeing a great time for all ages. There are also kids clubs aboard where the kids are supervised and entertained with a range of great activities! Adults will always be entertained with things like dance classes, plus great restaurants and a variety of shows.

Pacific Sun also has great food and lots of it, with more than 15 courses of fine international cuisine on offer each day! There are 743 passenger cabins with some accommodating up to five people. Cabins feature queen-sized beds convertible to twin beds and 18 cabins are designed for wheelchairs.

Let Pacific Sun take you on a tropical adventure. Many ports are small tropical islands where Pacific Sky anchors offshore and tender boats take passengers to the islands to experience the pleasures they have to offer.

Enjoy Divine Island's untouched paradise. Dive into the marine life and famous wrecks of Lunganville. Then to the lush island of Pentecost, famous for its daring land divers -the original bungee jumpers. Stock up on souvenirs in the bustling port of Vila. Stroll the sandy pathways of Mystery Island, and soak up the French atmosphere in chic Noumea before returning to Sydney.

There's also lots of on-shore activities in the ports. In Noumea you can hop off the cruise and take the controls of a 1,600 horse power, 2-seater Jet Ski, and with the Instructor/Guide set off to explore the coast off Kuendu Beach. Rides on a jet ski usually last 20 minutes and there are up to 8 trips a day.
